James Eldred Swearingen, 74, of Phenix City, Alabama passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Piedmont Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30, Monday May 7, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Military Honors and burial at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, the 6th from 3 until 5 at Vance Memorial.
James Eldred Swearingen was born on December 22, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Eldred Nestor Swearingen and Sadie Frances Moore Swearingen. James proudly served his country in the United States Army where he did a tour in Vietnam. He worked for Service Printing Co for many years and was Methodist by faith.
Other than his parents James was preceded in death by a son Reginald J. Swearingen and a brother, John Thomas Swearingen.
James is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Deloris Swearingen; 2 sons, Durant Collins (Slade Estes) of Phenix City and Scott D. Swearingen of Phenix City; 4 grandchildren, Kyle Collins, Kory Collins, Dustin Swearingen and Evette Swearingen; 2 great-grandchildren, Andrew Collins and Ramsey Swearingen; several extended family members and many caring friends.
