James “Jimmy” Murray Malone, 74, of Phenix City, AL passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Jimmy was born January 15, 1945 at the old bush hospital in Columbus, GA, son to the late William Ridley Malone and Irma Kate Robinson Malone. Jimmy served our country proudly as a Veteran of the United States Army and retired with 20 years of service. After the military, he went on to work for Georgia Power in the early 90s, working for weeks in Homestead, FL during Hurricane Andrew. Jimmy then worked at the Fort Benning Golf Course, retiring just a few years ago with 20 years of service. Jimmy taught himself how to play the guitar and could sing and sound just like Elvis Presley; “although at times, his timing was just a little off.” He was a die-hard Elvis fan, even naming his only daughter, Lisa Marie. Jimmy was a member of the Columbus Corvette Club and had won many awards which he took great pride in. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a great niece, Presley Dawn Smith.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Younghee Park Malone, his daughter, Lisa Marie Malone, one sister, Peggy Malone Young, niece, Marjorie Smith Trawick (Wade), great nephew, Gage Davidson, and several cousins, step nieces, nephews, and his much loved cat and companion, Nabi. Jimmy kept his witty humor all the way to the end and he always had a wisecrack to make someone laugh and smile.
