James Lavon Stroud, 76, of Phenix City, AL died at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital, Phenix City, AL on Sunday, May 16, 2021.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Stephen Stroud and Rev. Jonathan Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Stroud was born July 22, 1944 in Red Level, AL son of Eva Mae Ward Stroud and the late Adolphus Lee Stroud. He was the District Supervisor of Sales for Dolly Madison before he retired. Mr. Stroud was affectingly known as “Daddy” by all the youth he coached in Softball and other youth sports. He loved to play golf and watch Alabama Football with his family and friends. The lasting impression that he has left will continue to impact us and generations to come because of his positive example and integrity.
Mr. Stroud was preceded in death by his father, Adolphus Lee Stroud, a grandson, Gregory Ryan Hanson and two nephews, Zachery Dunn and Chris Olds.
Survivors include his mother, Eva Mae Ward Stroud, Phenix City, AL; his wife of 57 years, however they have known each other for over 61 years, Janet Chadwick Stroud, Phenix City, AL; children, his “Daddy’s Girl”, Kimberly Stroud Hanson (Greg), Fortson, GA, two sons, James Ronald Stroud, Phenix City, AL and Rev. Stephen Lavon Stroud (Shea Parker Stroud), Tuscaloosa, AL; three siblings, Lamar Stroud (Diane), Faye Olds (Vernon) and Carlton Stroud (Diane); “favorite” sister-in-law, Janice Dunn; nine grandchildren, Frankie Lee Stroud, Michael Drew Hanson (Christine), Parker Stroud, Peyton Stroud, Paige Stroud, Megan Adams (Jonathan), Chase Dunn, Devin Dunn and Dawson Dunn; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends are also surviving.
