James Michael Brown, 61, of Salem, AL passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held 5:30 pm EDT Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Concord Baptist Church in Salem, AL with Rev. Bud Passmore officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:30 until 5:30 pm EDT, one hour prior, at the church. Mr. Brown was born in Southington, CT, son of the late Marshall Clyde Brown and Sylvia Girardi Brown. During his career, he worked as a network administrator for several companies including Carmike Cinema and Personal Care and Electronics, which he owned. His greatest love in life was his family. Mr. Brown is survived by his loving wife Desiree Vining Brown of Salem, AL; two daughters, Irene Brewer and husband Donny of Salem, AL and Sarah McNeeley and Ryan of Buford, GA; two sisters, Kathleen McBride and husband Lonny of Ivey, GA and Bernardine Minton and husband Andy of Elberton, GA; two brothers, Marshall John Brown and wife June of Middletown, VA and Charles Edward Brown and wife Debbie of Gordon, GA; grandchildren, Colby, Alexis and Kaylee. Additionally, he is survived by his loving pet Sophie and many extended family and friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Gerbovaz.
