James Michael Locklar, 68, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Gentiva Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 pm EST Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Reneau officiating. A private interment with Military Honors will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the memorial service on Saturday at the church.
Mike was born July 13, 1947 in Columbus, GA to the late Clifton “Jack” Locklar and Ollie Slayton Locklar. He was the owner / operator of Mike’s Lawn Service. Mike was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War and a Christian by faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bicycling, jogging, dancing and having fun and fellowship with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Julie Malette Locklar Deese and fiancé Billy Hornsby, brothers and sisters, Wayne Locklar (Judy Raley), Nancy Locklar Scott and husband Larry, Vickki Locklar Eberle, Keith Locklar, Sherree Locklar Williamson, and Jan Locklar, two grandchildren, Jaiman Deese and Alivia Jewell Deese; a host of nieces and nephews, other extended family, and many caring friends.
