James Ray Corbitt, 68, of Seale, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 20, 2018.
Funeral Services for Mr. Corbitt will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 1:00 PM EST at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will take place at Seale Cemetery.
Mr. Corbitt was born in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Ulysses Lewis Corbitt Sr. and Nellie Ruth Burns Corbitt. Ray, as he was known to most, proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Nam War and was a door gunner and mechanic on army helicopters. After his transition to civilian life, Ray opened his own business known as "Ray's Auto Shop." Ray enjoyed fishing and his group of friends in Seale, AL, but most of all, he was devoted to being the caregiver to his mother for over 30 years. He also had a love for gardening and could raise any vegetable, especially the ones that "Granny" wanted.
Mr. Corbitt is survived by one son Jason Corbitt of Columbus, GA; one sister Carolyn Ann O'Keefe and husband Kevin of Peachtree City, GA; one brother Ulysses Lewis Corbitt, Jr. and Wife Ronna of San Antonio, TX a host of nieces, nephews and extended family along with many caring friends.
