James Ray Hall, Sr., 89, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2018, in the comfort of his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, with Terry Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends an hour before the service on Monday.
James was born on January 10, 1929, in Union Springs, AL, the son of the late Leonard Hall and Willie Maude Hall. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and bowling where he once bowled a perfect game of 300. He loved woodworking and was passionate about building rocking chairs. He was an honorary shipmate member of the USS Ross. Mr. Hall was a Baptist by faith. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by 12 siblings and granddaughter Tracey Hall.
He is survived by friend and companion, Barbara Leatherwood; three sons, James Ray “Jimmy” Hall, Jr., wife Margaret, Glen Hall, wife Annita and Don Hall, wife Regina, child of heart, Linda Bass, husband Cody; sister, Frances Cole; grandchildren, Jared Hall, (Meagen), Kayla Hall, Casey Christian, (JuYoung), Michael Hall, Kenni Jo Newman (Joe), Cassie Broadwater (Kevin), Candice Christian (Marc Michelic); great grandson, Colton Ray Hall, along with many other great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, extended family members and many caring friends.
