James Ray Taylor, 65, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday morning, November 2, 2018 in the comfort of his home in Phenix City.
A celebration of life graveside memorial service with Military Honors will be held 12:00 noon CST / 1:00 pm EST Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery 4827 County Road 401 Salem, AL 36874 just off Hwy 169 North, Pastor Ricky Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the graveside memorial service at the cemetery.
Ray was born May 29, 1953 in Opelika, AL to the late James A. Taylor and Qumy Broadwater Taylor. He had worked most of his life as a residential insulation contractor. He served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed watching Auburn football, fishing, and spending time with his brothers and friends. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Amanda “Mandi” Taylor.
He is survived by his daughter, Staci Marie Colley and husband Dale, two sisters, Kay Grogan and husband Jim of Fort Mitchell, AL, and Carol Howle and husband Toby, and two brothers, Gene Taylor, and Robert Taylor, all of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Josh Taylor, and Kayla Greathouse, and one precious great granddaughter, Chloe Taylor, a host of extended loving family members, and many friends.
