James "Tony" Harrell

“Tony,” as he was known by his friends, was born in Perry, GA, the son of James Dewight Harrell and Martha Faye Davis Harrell on August 8, 1956. Tony was known as a man who never met a stranger. He would strike up a conversation and make friends anywhere he traveled. Mr. Harrell was a handy-man and was known as the “scrap man” for his work in the scrap metal business. Tony was a sports fan, specifically enjoying the Auburn Football season. He also loved playing pool, participating in the TAP League and the VNEA League, both in Columbus. He was always passionate about animals but was especially a fan of dogs. Mr. Harrell was also a member of Highland Community Church in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Ellis G. Davis and Fannie Davis; wife, Crystal Franklin; and stepfather, Wesley Lamar “Bubba” Rosar.

James Anthony Harrell, 62, of Columbus, GA, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center in Columbus.

Tony is survived by two brothers, Robert Lemmie Harrell, and his wife Angela, of Columbus and Ronnie Larry Harrell, and his wife Jeanette, of Pasadena, TX; nephews, Christopher Harrell, Robert Harrell, and Westley Harrell; great niece and nephew, Stevie Harrell and Jason Harrell; step-daughters, Tobi Steen and Olivia Steen and their children Amber, Renee, Rebekah, Rianna, and Rainey; nephew, Septh; his three furry and faithful companions, as well as extended family and friends.

A time of celebration will be held 5:00 – 7:00pm Saturday, November 24th at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4080 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Animal Ark Rescue, 7133 Sacredote Lane, Columbus, GA 31907 www.animalarkrescue.com/inmemory.
