James W. “Jim” Lloyd, 85, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 in the comfort of his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Oswichee Baptist Church in Fort Mitchell with Rev. Ralph Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Oswichee Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.
Mr. Lloyd was born May 16, 1931 in Thurmond, NC to the late Ernest Fielder Lloyd and Mittie Faye Thompson Lloyd. He was retired from Peacock Paints with over 20 years of service and was in paint industry for over 50 years. He served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Throughout his life, he managed semi-pro baseball, coached and umpired softball, enjoyed playing golf, and loved attending Gospel singings. He sang with The Lloyd Brothers Quartet for over 52 years. He was a member of Oswichee Baptist Church and served as a Gideon for over 40 years. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bobby Jean Locke Lloyd and a brother, Fielder Lloyd.
He is survived by his only daughter, Rhonda D. Lloyd of Phenix City, AL, two brothers, Harrell Lloyd and wife Sherry of Stockbridge, GA, and Bobby Lloyd and wife Romayne of Warm Springs, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
