James W. Stringfellow, 92, of Crawford, AL passed away peacefully late Tuesday night, August 4, 2015 in the comfort of his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EDT Friday, August 7, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Steve Williamson and Chaplin Tim Calloway officiating. A private interment with Military Honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery and the family will receive friends this evening (Thursday) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Greg Dykes, Scott Dykes, Joe Capps, Steve Rogers, Dexter Dykes, Earl Blackshear, and Bert Carroll.
Mr. Stringfellow was born November 4, 1922 in Juniper, GA to Joseph P. Stringfellow and Cora Robinson Stringfellow. He was retired from Sunshine Biscuit in Columbus, GA and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. Mr. Stringfellow was a longtime member of Crawford Baptist Church and enjoyed all church activities, loved the outdoors, loved traveling in his younger years, and cherished spending time with family. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Annie Mae Dykes Stringfellow, sister, Frances Lawrence, and a brother, Hilliard Stringfellow.
He is survived by several brother and sister-in laws, Bascum Dykes and wife Faye, Donald Dykes and wife Glenda, Leo Dawson, Lila Powell, Flossie Harden, and Grace Stone, a very special cousin, Joyce Turner, numerous other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.
