USMC (ret) SGT James “Jimmy” Watford, 82, of Phenix City, AL passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Canterbury Heath Facility in Phenix City, AL.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, February 6, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Mark Hudson officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mr. Watford was born September 30, 1938 in Malvern, AL, son of the late Raymond Watford and Blondell Jussaume. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. and retired with 20 years of service. During his tenure with the Marine Corp. he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Mr. Watford enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, viewing all types of wildlife. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Edna Faye Watford; two sisters, Virginia Day and Betty Tanner.
He is survived by a son Donald “Bobby” Taylor and wife Brenda of Smiths Station, AL; two grandchildren, Brittany Taylor and Corey Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Ricky Bowers and Ryker Taylor; several nieces and extended family.
