James Wilson Fuqua, 83, of Seale, AL died at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA on Monday, February 01, 2021.
Graveside services with U. S. Navy honors will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, February 04, 2021 in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Avis Meckes officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.
Mr. Fuqua was born August 30, 1937 in Barbour County, AL son of the late Woodrow Wilson Fuqua and Sara Codine Parmer Fuqua. He served in the U. S. Navy Reserves in Columbus, GA as a See Bee and he also served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Fuqua had retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning where he was an Electrician. He enjoyed reading, vegetable gardening woodworking, fishing and attending Auctions. Mr. Fuqua was also an active part of the Ft. Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was well known for his tender heart for stray animals, keeping a supply of water and food for any he happened upon.
Mr. Fuqua was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Whyoma LaFollette Fuqua and two grandchildren, Devin Fuqua and Allison Garcia.
Survivors include his seven children, Phil Fuqua (Samantha), James Gary Fuqua (Cathy), Debora Morgan (Dave), Debbie Benefield (David), Teresa Sebastian (Don), Pamela Siddall (Greg), Tonia Hopkins (William Marks); eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
