Jean Andrews Owen, 92, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
A celebration of life funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Larry Vinson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Adam Thomas, Sam Owen, Michael Alakamovitch, Jonathan Sims, Scot Hemmings, Jeff Price, Ray Driskell, and David Smith.
Mrs. Owen was born August 12, 1925 in Lafayette, AL to the late James “Jim” Andrews, and Bertha Henderson Andrews. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a lady of great character who cherished her Christian faith and fellowship. She enjoyed church activities, engaging in opportunities to share the Lord’s work, and she loved gardening. She was a longtime member of Sunderlan Baptist Church and was a current member of Seale Road Baptist Church. She had a strong work ethic and in her past had the opportunity to work with several different companies which included, Tallapoosa River Electric, Kings Fabrics, Farmers and Merchants Bank of Lafayette, AL, and was also an Avon Representative. Mrs. Owen’s main pride was her Christian faith, and spending quality time with family, and all her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert “Bob” Clay Owen, three sisters, Mary Farrington, Elizabeth Cotter, and Helen Sheppard, and one brother, Len Andrews.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Stillwell, and Jan Thomas and husband Donald, two sons, Robert Owen and wife Chyrle, and Steven Owen and wife Wynn, one sister, Dorothy “Dot” Allen, (9) grandchildren, Julie Price (Jeff), Adam Thomas (Heather), Clay Owen, Amy Hemmings (Scot), Allison Sims (Jonathan), Courtney Alakamovitch (Michael), Jessica MacDonald, Brooke MacDonald, and Sam Owen; (9) great grandchildren, Owen Thomas, Joshua Price, Thomas Sims, Wyatt Alakamovitch, Addie Hemmings, Allie Hemmings, Brandon Hemmings, Will Alakamovitch, and Eli Sims, a host of extended family members, church family, and many caring friends.
