Jean Stuckey, age 90, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Parkwood Healthcare Facility, Phenix City. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, 12 noon with Reverend Rodney Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. Stuckey, daughter of the late Jesse Smith and Cleola Hall Smith, was born July 17, 1931 in Dadeville, Alabama. She was retired from the grocery industry in the meat department where she faithfully worked for over 30 years. Mrs. Stuckey was a member of Crawford Baptist Church. She was a lady who devoted her life raising her children and caring for many others. Mrs. Stuckey enjoyed spending time gardening, cooking, and was known for her delicious tiny biscuits. She also enjoyed watching her favorite stories, keeping a good supply of her “baby cokes,” but more than anything she enjoyed being with her family. The family remembers her as a lady who had enormous generosity, a mother to all, and someone that always had her family first.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Stuckey was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Stuckey, Sr; two daughters, Margaret Judy Bain and June Elliott Johns; one grandson, Daniel Chase Harris; one sister, Hazel Miles; and one brother, Woodrow Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Hazel Herman and her husband Dannie of Phenix City; three sons, Butch Stuckey and his wife Vicki “Buckey” of Smiths, Alabama, Mike “Worm” Stuckey and his wife Tammy of Enterprise, Alabama, and Jim Stuckey, Jr. and his wife Sherri of Phenix City; seven grandchildren, Brandi Weaver and her husband Josh of Columbus, Brandon Stuckey of Phenix City, Crystal Belew and her husband Michael of Smiths, Mandy Stuckey of Statesboro, Georgia, Tripp Stuckey and his wife Theresa of Enterprise, Meagan Spivey and her husband Stoney of Smiths, and Michael Stuckey and his wife Jenna of Dunwoody, Georgia; 18 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
