Jeanette Sims Blanton

Jeanette Sims Blanton, 93, of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, November 17, 2023, in the comfort of her daughter’s home in Wetumpka, AL.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm EST, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, with Rev. Don Abrams officiating. A private interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a short period of time just after the funeral service at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mrs. Blanton was born October 13, 1930, in China Grove, AL, daughter of the late Horace C. Sims and Tura Tyler Sims. She worked in accounting administration for the City of Phenix City for 13 years and Hogan-Lott Supply Company for 20 years and was retired. She enjoyed preparing southern cooked meals and always looked forward to the greatest time of season and fellowship with her family during Thanksgiving. She loved her church, church family, and enjoyed gospel music, but her love and joy were sharing special times and memories with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a Christian and a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Phenix City.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Millner Blanton, a son, Douglas Steven Blanton, brother, Malcom Sims, and sister-in-law, Ruth Edna Sims.
She is survived by three daughters, Deborah McVey and husband Larry, Janie M. Staffin and husband Robert, and Donna Wilson, and one son, Benjamin “Ben” Millner Blanton, daughter-in-law, Debbie Blanton, (12) grandchildren, Ben and Heather Long, Mike Hall, Jay and Deb McLoughlin, Tim and Kristy McLoughlin Todd and Karen McLoughlin, Clay Fletcher and Dawn Weekley, Anna Halstead, Ronnie Bailey, Kristin and Bradly Crenshaw, Darrell and Ashley Wilson, Stephanie Pierce, and Madison Blanton, (15) great grandchildren, Sarai, Frankie, Hannah, Will, Taryn, Landon, Jamie, Mason, Gunner, Kaylee, Luke, Wilson, Matthew, Ella, and Lacee, several nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
The family wanted to express a special appreciation to all the doctors, nurses, and staff associated with Ivy Creek Hospice of Wetumpka for their love and care shown for Mrs. Jeanette Blanton.
