Jeffrey “Todd” Maples, Sr.

Jeffrey “Todd” Maples, Sr., of Opelika, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital while surrounded by his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home located at 3738 U.S. Highway 431 North Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Maples was born in Huntsville, Alabama the son of the late Donald Ray Maples I, and Yolanda Bednarek Summers. He soon moved with his family to the Smiths Station, Alabama area where he was raised and attended school. After high school, he became employed at West Point Stevens Mill, but this did not fulfill his ambitions of operating heavy equipment. He soon purchased his own equipment and became an owner/operator of Maples Hauling, which he maintained until he became disabled. Todd, as he was known to his friends, loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. One of his hobbies included going to any casino. He was also a “wheeler and dealer” of any type of items he could buy, sell, or trade. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Those left to cherish his memory is his stepfather LeGary Summers; daughter Christina Chelsea Johnson of Phenix City, AL; son Jeffrey Maples, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; sisters Sherry Holtackers of Phenix City, AL, Rhonda Skeen (David) of Columbus, GA and Lisa Oliver of Phenix City, AL; brothers Michael Maples of Huntsville, AL, Wade Summers of Phenix City, AL and Don Maples of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren Shaparis Maples, Saniya Johnson, Torrance Johnson, Kirk Swift, Kylin Maples, Betty Aaliyah Maples, Landon Cole Maples and Ivory Shaffer and many extended family members and friends.
