Jennifer Marie Vaughn

Jennifer Marie Vaughn of Columbus, GA passed from this life into eternal life with her Lord on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Cascade Hills Church 727 54th Street on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 11:00 am. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Pastors Jonathan Merritt and Bobby John Stevens will be officiating.

Jennifer was born in Columbus, GA to Jerry and June (Weatherholtz) Gaylor. She resided in Columbus all her life. She received Christ as her Savior at Edgewood Baptist Church where she was a member for many years. She joined Cascade Hills Church as a young adult where she served in the nursery and Vacation Bible School. Jennifer graduated from Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) and later from Columbus State University. She was a teacher in the Muscogee County School District, serving at several elementary grade levels at River Rd Elementary, Gentian Elementary, and most recently at Mathew’s Elementary School. She loved her students and invested in their lives wholeheartedly, often attending their special events outside the classroom. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend. Her lovely smile and encouraging words will be greatly missed. Her kindness and love extended to perfect strangers. It was not unusual for her to anonymously pick up the bill for someone she didn’t know at a restaurant or in a fast-food line.

Her greatest passion was being a mother to her three beloved children Alana, Riley, and Bret. Her life revolved around them. She always put their needs above her own. She fought a valiant battle with heart disease for the past three years. When lesser people would have given up, she pressed on, wanting to be present for her children. Her face always beamed with pride when she spoke of them. She leaves them a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance. She will be ever present in their hearts and in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her three children, Alana Vaughn, Riley Vaughn, and Bret Vaughn, survivors include her parents: Jerry & June (Weatherholtz) Gaylor, a sister, Julie (Todd) Jackson and brother, Jason (Pam) Gaylor, several nieces Katie (Paul) McClung, Claire Gaylor, Allie Jackson, Lauren Jackson, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
