Jerry Lee Pope

Jerry Lee Pope, 80, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 pm Monday, May 1, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel with Rev. Tony Pope officiating.  Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, at the funeral home.

Mr. Pope was born on December 26, 1936 in Phenix City, AL, son of the late Rev. Ira Pope and Mae Daughtrey Pope. Mr. Pope proudly served in the US Air Force before working for and retiring from Piggly Wiggly after 32 years. Jerry was also a huge Alabama football fan. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Marlene Pope, son, Jason Pope, brother, Billy Ray Pope and sister, Ottis Thompson.

He is survived by his wife Annette Pope; daughters, Marie Pope, Teresa Harnage, Jerri Lynn Cooper and Skip and Jessica Pope Campbell and Peter; sisters, Myra Chappell and Troy, Barbara Pope and Leroy, Helen Pope and Rev. Tony Pope, and Faye Barnett and Davie; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and many caring friends.
