Jerry Wayman Keeter, 71 of Smith Station, AL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am EDT, on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Skip Speed and Rev. Alan Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour before the service at Vance Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Keeter was born on October 7, 1943 in Atlanta, GA, the son of Clifton William Keeter and Mary Belle McGaughey Keeter. He proudly served in the US Navy before returning home where he worked in retail management with WT Grants, Otasco and Leisure Lifestyles before retiring. He attended Philadelphia Baptist Church, loved fishing, woodworking and the Atlanta Braves.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Glenn Bruce Keeter.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Lanora Keeter; 3 daughters, Jerri Lynne Keyt (Billy), Jamie Karastury (Jon) and Jennifer Keeter; step-children, Stephanie Parrish and Kevin Powell (Leigh); siblings, Charles Ronnie Keeter (Rhonda) and Penny Michelle Keeter; grandchildren, Billy Garrett Keyt, Kyndal Lynne Keyt, Melanie Parrish, Bryan Parrish (Whitley), Justin Powell, Brandon Powell and Jacob Powell; great-grandchild Elise Parrish; niece, Paige Keeter Spires (Andrew), and nephew, Chad Keeter; his loving and faithful miniature schnauzer, Aubie; many extended family members and friends.
The family is grateful to Gentiva Hospice for their care of Mr. Jerry over the last several weeks.
