Jessie Mae Steverson White, 88, of Smiths Station, AL passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. EST at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station, AL with Rev. Skip Speed and Dr. Chuck Gaines officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens in Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL from 5-8 p.m. EST. Mrs. White’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. White was born August 26, 1927 in Phenix City, AL to Jesse and Lizzie Clyde Steverson. She was the Valedictorian of her 1946 graduating class at Smiths Station High School. Mrs. White was a devoted loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Mrs. White retired from McKesson Drugs after 30 plus years of service. She was a member of NARFE.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Robert J. White, her parents Jesse and Lizzie Clyde Steverson, one grandson Michael Batting, one son-in-law Jerry Keeter, two brother-in-laws William Horne and Vernon Morris.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law Allen and Darlene White, Smiths Station, AL. Daughter and son-in-law Gayle and Bob Batting of Trussville, AL. Daughter Lanora Keeter of Smiths Station, AL.
Seven grandchildren Stephanie Brown (Don) Smiths Station, AL, Kevin Powell (Leigh) Smiths Station, AL, Joy Lee (Eric) Cropwell, AL, Jennifer White Conner (James) Smiths Station, AL, Jessica Reinhardt (Billy)Wetumpka, AL, Matthew White (Cassie) Smiths Station, AL, Robbie Batting (Jennifer) Springville, AL. Six step-grandchildren Jannie Costello, Phenix City, AL, Rodney Costello (Beth), Phenix City, AL, Lynn Costello, Leesburg, GA. Jenny Keeter, Phenix City, AL, Jamie Karastury (John) Phenix City, AL, Jerri Lynn Keyt (Billy) Phenix City, AL.
23 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Two sisters Earline Morris of Smiths Station, AL, and Vera Horne of Smiths Station, AL. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
