Joan Vavoulakis Montalvo, 70, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
A Celebration of life and funeral mass will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jose Paillacho officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church.
Mrs. Montalvo was born July 20, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY to Theresa Russo and the late John Vavoulakis. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grand grandmother who was deeply devoted to her family. She enjoyed art history, traveling, her doll collection, old movies, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Phenix City.
She is survived by her mother, Theresa Russo, her loving and devoted husband of almost 49 years, Robert “Bob” R. Montalvo of Phenix City, AL, her daughter, Theresa Ann Pruitt and husband Chris of Phenix City, AL; three grandchildren, Tiffany Sparks (Adam), Samantha Naramore (John), and James Jolly and fiancé Maranda Fuller, three great grandchildren, James “Dawson” Sparks, Jeffery “Dallas” Sparks, and Jaylee Jolly, numerous other extended loving family members, and many caring friends.
