John Alan Cook, 52, of Columbus, GA passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital. A memorial service will be held at The Branch Church, 2980 US Hwy 27, Cataula, GA on Friday, November 22, 2024 beginning at 2:00 pm with Pastor Andy Taunton and Jerry Julius officiating. A private graveside service will follow. 

 John was born on December 7, 1971 in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended The Branch Church in Cataula and was employed at Urology Center of Columbus where he worked as an IT Tech Manager. John had several hobbies that allowed him to spend time outdoors. Some of his favorites included hunting, scuba diving and snow skiing. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Bi-City Fishing Club. John’s talent for creativity was evident in his beautiful woodwork and photography. He also enjoyed spending time with his 2nd family the Fosters and his best friends Scott and Jerry, as well as taking care of his cat Thumper and cooking. John will be greatly missed by his many friends and by his family, whom he loved very much.

 John is preceded in death by his father William Harvey Cook. He is survived by his daughter Makayla Cook (Cole Butterfield) of Smiths Station, AL, son Ian Cook (Lexi Thompson) of Phenix City, AL, mother Sandra Summersgill, stepfather Joe Summersgill, sister Cindy Green (James), brothers William Cook and Michael Cook (Tracy), both of Columbus, GA, and grandchildren Cyrus Jiles Cook, Falon Thompson and Finlee Thompson, all of Phenix City, AL.

Final arrangements have been made through Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Columbus.
