John J. Trapp, 85, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 surrounded by his family.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2PM Monday, June 19, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel with the burial to follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Trapp was born May 8, 1932 in Cullman, AL, son of late Samuel Trapp and Della Wise Trapp. He worked as a supervisor with Dolly Madison for 43 years before retiring. He was a member of Bethany Baptist church and was very active in all the church activities. After retiring he spent time volunteering with the Senior Citizens of Lee and Russell Counties and loved spending time outdoors. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Avery Trapp and Hershel Trapp and a sister, Ethelene Trapp Rhodes.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margie Parker Trapp; son, Tommy Trapp of Phenix City, Donna Jo Trapp McBride of Smiths Station; sister, Christine McLendon of Jasper; grandchildren, Kimberly Blocker husband Jeff, Michael Adam Long wife Ana, and Jessica Bradley husband Charles; great-grandchildren, Michael Owen Guerrero, Hunter Purvis, Joshua Fain, Jeremiah Fain, Riley Long and Kira Adams; several other family members and caring friends.
