John F. Jenkins, Sr.

Mr. John F. Jenkins, Sr., 80, of Opelika, AL passed away Monday, January 13, 2025, at his home. 

 A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EDT at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL 

 Mr. Jenkins was born on November 19, 1944 in Columbus, GA, son of the late B. F. Jenkins and Margaret King Jenkins. He worked for the majority of his career with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. First with the Local 779, which transitioned to the Local 613 and then for TYIA on Ft. Moore. Mr. Jenkins served as President of the Local Union for six years. He had several hobbies, such as, Alabama football, deep sea fishing, watching westerns and NASCAR. However, his favorite past times were dancing with his wife and spending time with his family. He was also, a long time member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Jenkins.

 Mr. Jenkins is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jeannie Jenkins; a daughter, Julie Ann Jenkins (Kevin); a son, John F. Jenkins, Jr. (Celeste); a brother, Steve Jenkins (Linda); two grandchildren, Kaleigh Elkins and Alexis Elkins; a great-granddaughter, Aviana Elkins; as well as extended family and friends.
