John "Johnny" T. Johnston

John “Johnny” T. Johnston, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Mr. Johnston was born May 7, 1931 in Birmingham, AL to the late William L. Johnston and Bertie Mae Lal Johnston.  He was self-employed and was the owner of Safeway Transmissions in Columbus, GA.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a Baptist by faith.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 ½ years, Nancy “Jean” Griggs Johnston, and his only grandson, Alvin Brian Hutchings.

He is survived by his son, John “Mark” Johnston and wife Donna of Phenix City, AL, and a host of extended family members and friends.

A celebration of life memorial service with Military Honors will be held 1:00 pm EDT on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Faith Temple Assembly of God Church in Phenix City with Rev. Emory Evans officiating.  A private interment will take place at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the memorial service on Friday at the church.
