John Wayne McBride, 84, of Salem, AL passed away Saturday morning, May 11, 2024, in the comfort of his home while surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm EDT Friday, May 17, 2024, with Military Honors at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Mike McBride officiating. A private interment will take place at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Mr. McBride was born May 23, 1939, in Columbus, GA, son of the late John Edgar McBride and Nadine Hubbard McBride. He was employed with the Civil Service at Fort Benning, GA as an Electronic Technician with many dedicated years of service and then retired. He served our country honorably and was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed and loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, nature, gardening, and was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. But his greatest passion was the love for all his family. He was a Christian and attended the Church of the Highlands.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Mary Jane Redden McBride; one daughter, Tracy Bowling and husband Chuck; three sons, Rodney McBride and wife Terri, Nathan McBride and wife Sonya, and Jason McBride and wife Melinda; sister, Derrie Cook; two brothers, Tommy McBride and wife Susan, and Jerry McBride and wife Jean, ten grandchildren, and ten precious great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and numerous friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to Gentiva Hospice in memory of Mr. John Wayne McBride.
