Mr. John Henry Rogers

US Army SGT 1^st Class (ret) John Henry Rogers, 84, of Hatchechubbee, AL died Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm edt (2:00 pm cdt) Friday, October 30, 2020 at Hatchechubbee United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Mr. Rogers was born June 15, 1936 in Woodbury, TN, son of the late Robert Rogers and Pearl Parker Rogers.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Mr. Rogers served two tours of duty in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam.  During his tenure with the Army, he was a member of the 11^th Air Assault Company at Ft. Benning and a member of the 61^st Air Assault Company at Ft. Bragg.  Mr. Rogers retired from the US Army with over 21 years of service.  After retiring from the military, he owned an operated two business for over 30 years, JR’s Kountry Corner and JR’s Seed and Feed.  Mr. Rogers was a member of the US Army Otter & Caribou Association, a Life Member of the Disabled Veterans of America and the American Legion.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Henry Rogers and two brothers, Bill Riley Rogers and Eugene Rogers.

He is survived by loving wife of 64 years, Mary Rogers of Hatchechubbee, AL; a daughter, Cindy Rhodes and husband Ron of Birmingham, AL; three sisters, Nina Louise Sherrell of Bradyville, TN, Vicky Rigney and husband Monroe of Manchester, TN and Christy DeBerry and husband John of Manchester, TN; a brother, Jerry Warren Rogers and wife Patsy of Manchester, TN; three grandchildren, John Rogers (Brittany), Jacob Lapidus and Joshua Lapidus; two great-grandchildren, Holden Rogers and Britton Rogers; several other extended family and friends.
