John Earl Rustin “Good John”, 67, of Box Springs, GA passed away Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Columbus Specialty Hospital in Columbus, GA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Monday, February 1, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Wayne Scarborough officiating. The burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Cuthbert, GA. The family will receive friends this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Rustin was born November 13, 1948, in Columbus, GA son of the late Nathan E. Rustin, Sr. and Gaynelle Sellers Rustin. He worked for many years as an electrician with the Civil Service on Ft. Benning. Mr. Rustin was a member of the Rustin Security Club and a life long Alabama fan.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Nathan E. Rustin, Jr. and Wayne E. Rustin.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda Whatley Rustin of Box Springs, GA; one son, Wendell Dunagan of Columbus, GA; one brother, Robert E. Rustin and wife Kathy; a sister-in-law, Helen Rustin of Phenix City, AL; two grandchildren, Kristi Schell and husband Lynn and William Dunagan, several nieces, nephews and many extended family members and caring friends.
