Johnnie Ruth Cobb Capan, 81, of Phenix City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 31, 2017 in the comfort of her home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm EDT at Vance Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Thomas officiating. Graveside service will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT on Monday, April 3rd at the funeral home.
Mrs. Capan was born April 20, 1935 to the late Barnie Cobb and Johnnie Lee Baxter Cobb in Dothan, Alabama. Baptist by faith, Mrs. Capan was a retired homemaker who was dedicated to her family. She was also preceded in death by her husband Grover “Jack” Capan, her brother James Cobb of Phenix City, sister, Betty Jane Morgan of Petaluma, California, and two brothers-in-law: Harold Capan of Dothan, AL and Foy Gene “Pete” Capan of Columbus.
She is survived by her loving son Jeffery “J.J.” Capan and his wife Jodi Hardy Capan of Phenix City; step-daughter Alicia Capan Fisher of Columbus; step-son Timothy Capan and wife Jana of Columbus; sister Mary Nell Moore of Columbus; three sisters-in-law: Alice Cobb of Phenix City, Betty Capan of Dothan, AL and Judy Capan of Columbus; three grandchildren: Jacksen Laine Capan (her “Jacksie”), Alexa Capan and Kimberly Miltner-Perez; 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
