Mr. Johnny Amerson

October 19, 1947 — July 30, 2020

Johnny Amerson, age 72, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his residence.  Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Grant Parker officiating.  Private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 2-4 p.m.

Mr. Amerson, son of the late Freddie Earl Amerson and Eleanor Lucille Modling Amerson, was born October 19, 1947 in Columbus, Georgia.

After high school, he began working at Murphree and Lisle Construction Company, where he worked for over 15 years.  He then started his own company, Amerson Construction, Inc. (ACI), and operated this business for over 15 years.  After retiring from construction, he worked for the Housing Authority of Phenix City for over 10 years as a Construction Consultant and then ventured out to working with rental property management for over 5 years.

Mr. Amerson was a member of Epworth United Methodist church, and avid Alabama Football and NASCAR fan. He loved his family immensely, particularly his grandchildren. Mr. Amerson enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing, but his greatest passion was working.  He always looked forward to grilling and cooking for family and friends.  The family remembers him as an honest, hardworking, and fair man to all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rita Amerson of Phenix City, Alabama; two daughters, Lisa Amerson of Phenix City and Marlea Jeffries and her husband Chris of Smtihs Station, Alabama; three grandchildren, Lacey Becker and her husband Dave of Edmond, Oklahoma, John Michael Jeffries of Smiths Station, and Spencer Curtis Jeffries, also of Smiths Station; great-grandson, Amerson Renley Jeffries; special niece, De Jordan and her husband Sean of Smiths Station; two nephews, Jimmy Stanford of Smiths Station and Chance Stanford and his wife Amy of Valley, Alabama; many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 430, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
