Johnny “Wade” Cook, 65, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Sunday morning, March 5, 2023 in the comfort of his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City.
Wade was born April 20, 1957 in Phenix City, AL and was the son of the late Johnnie Will Cook and Shirley Jean King Cook. He had worked with Southern Phenix Textile with 35 years of service before changing his career to Walmart Distribution in Lagrange, GA and retiring after 13 plus years of faithful service. He was a native of the Smiths Station and Phenix City community. He loved traveling, cruises, tailgating, and all sorts of sports. He was a longtime season ticket holder where he was passionate about the Alabama Crimson Tide having the honor to have attended over 200 plus games sharing that joy with both his son and daughter. Wade loved fellowship, he loved people, and he loved his community and sharing past stories with anyone who would listen, but his biggest smiles came from him when he was with his family, especially sharing special times and moments with all his grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City where he served as a Deacon. He impacted many, he will always be loved, and his memories always cherished by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Beth Barbee Cook; son, Jeremy Cook; daughter, Amanda Jones; one sister, Janet Pickrell, and four precious grandchildren, Makenleigh Cook, Kyra Jones, Jaxson Cook, and Hunter Jones; several nieces, nephews and numerous other loving family members, church family, and many caring friends.
