Joseph Alton Greer

Joseph Alton Greer, 78, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 while with his family.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM (EST) on Friday, October 07, 2022 in Lakeview Memory Gardens with his sister, Lois Greer Redden officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.

Mr. Greer was born September 28, 1944 in Russell County, AL son of the late Henry Thomas Greer and Eva Irma Pinkston Greer.  He had retired from Dolly Madison where he worked in Maintenance. Mr. Greer was a “character” at times, but he loved his family above everything else. He was a great provider. We will miss him in our daily routine, but he will never leave our memories.

Mr. Greer was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eva Pinkston Greer; two brothers, Lewis Greer and Elmer Thomas; one grandchild, Jeffrey Scott Greer, II.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Vivian “Vicky” Miller Greer; two children, Jeffrey Scott Greer, Sr. and Gina Darlene Grimes; five siblings, Clarence Greer, Lilly Mae Greer O’Hearn (Ray), Dorothy Greer McDurmont (William), Lois Greer Redden (Ned) and Tommy Ray Greer (Celest); three grandchildren, Amanda Darlene Simmons, Blade Whitten and Samantha Kaylee Greer; five precious great-grandchildren, Wylder Simmons, Joey Holland Simmons,  Kaylee Jernigan, Jeffrey Scott Greer, III, and Scottie Lynn Greer; several nieces, nephews and friends.
