Joseph “Joe” R. Hathaway, 53, of Seale, AL was called home to Heaven on Saturday, May 09, 2020 while at Piedmont Regional Hospital, Columbus, GA.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 with Rev. Jonathan Pike and Rev. Derrick Millirons officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL.  Internment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family respectfully ask that social distancing guidelines be adhered to and mask be worn by those attending during this time.

Joe was born August 19, 1966 in Kodiak, AK son of Leslie “Lee” Hathaway and Edna Fuller Hildebrand. He was known as the “Bread Man” from his days with Colonial Bread and he was the current owner of 13th St. BBQ in Cataula, GA.  As a business owner, he was a positive mentor to his employees. Joe was an active member of Woodland Baptist Church where he used his gift of hospitality freely. He never met a stranger and could make anyone feel at home.  Joe loved Auburn Football and golf, but not as much as his family. We will miss his humor, laugh and generous heart, however he will always be a happy memory in our hearts.

Survivors other than his parents, Lee Hathaway and Edna Hildebrand (Carter), include his wife Tracy O’Neal Hathaway, Seale, AL; three children, Jessica Richmond, Phenix City, AL, Mark Hathaway, Seale, AL and Brian Hathaway, Phenix City, AL; three siblings, Edwin Bizzell (Margaret), Fayetteville, GA, Gloria Pullham, Battleground, WA and Felecia Andujar, Phenix City, AL; one grandson, Nicholas; numerous other nieces, nephews and close friends also survive.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the building funds of either Woodland Baptist Church, www.worshipatwoodland.com or Mercy Baptist Church, www.worshipatmercybaptistchurch.com .
