Joseph “Joey” Holbert Sinkule

October 29, 1952 — August 28, 2020

Joseph H. Sinkule “Joey”, a long time resident of Russell County Alabama, died August 28, 2020.  He was born in Munich, Germany, and was the son of the late Sue and Edward Sinkule.

Mr. Sinkule grew up on his uncle Jimmie Batcheldor’s dairy farm, and worked there for over 30 years.  He recently retired from Peek Pavement Painting Company, where worked for over 20 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sinkule was preceded in death by his brothers David C. Sinkule and Peter D. Sinkule.

He is survived by his loving wife Wanda Bridges Sinkule, a son, Duane Joseph Sinkule (Mary Catherine) of Birmingham, AL, a step-son, Terry Joiner of Phenix City, AL, two step-daughters Dena Fournier of (Steve) of Montrose, GA, and Amanda Herring (Jamie) of Eastman GA.  He leaves eleven grandchildren:  grandsons Cooper Anthony Sinkule, Jacob and Nathan Gurien, Joe and Jared Herring, Seth Fornier, and Cayleb Joiner; granddaughters Laura Herring, Rebecca and Emily Fournier and Alexys Joiner.  Mr. Sinkule leaves brothers Thomas J.Sinkule (Valdosta, GA), James E. and Paul G. Sinkule (Seale, AL) and sisters Cathy McVay (Auburn, AL , Barbara Gunter (Seale, AL), and Lolly Steiner (Auburn, AL). 

He will be sorely missed by beloved sister-in-law Winnie Bridges and niece Leanna Bridges. 

There will be a private family celebration of Joey’s life at Jersey Island Farm on Monday, August 31, 2020.
