Joe Robbins, age 73, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center, Columbus, Georgia. Private services are being held.
Mr. Robbins, son of the late Shirley Roland Robbins and Dollie Jean Whitman Robbins, was born February 21, 1949 in Phenix City. Mr. Robbins attended Crawford Road Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably serving in the 101st Airborne. During his distinguished military service, he served two tours in Vietnam. After leaving the military, Mr. Robbins worked in the steel industry for over 20 years. He was a man who enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson; working in his yard; and taking trips to the mountains. One of his big passions was bull riding. At one time, while he was in his 30s, he ranked 17th in Bull Riding in the state of Alabama.
The family remembers him as a man who took care of his family and also friends in the neighborhood. He was known as a “tough man with a big heart”.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Shane Robbins; and a sister, Janice Robbins. Mr. Robbins is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Jo Robbins; two daughters, Kellie Jo Jones and her husband Shannon of Hogansville, Georgia and Jamie Lynn Reaves of Phenix City; seven grandchildren, Carlie, Sophie, Courtney, Cody, Nolan, Dalton, and Haley; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
