Joseph (Joe) Patrick Potetz, 84, of Phenix City, AL formerly of Chandler, IN died peacefully while at Arabella Health & Wellness of Phenix City while under the care of Gentiva Hospice.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date in Indianapolis, IN, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home.

Joe was born July 02, 1940, in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Joseph Potetz and Rose Petrick Potetz. He was a Systems Analyst with AMAX Coal Co for may years before he retired. Joe was a member of St. Clements Catholic Church in Boonville, IN before moving to Phenix City to be with his youngest daughter and her family. He loved his 1968 Corvette and was an active member of the Glass Menagerie Corvette Club in the 70’s. Joe was a loving family man. He was always proud of his family and the smile on his face when he got to talk about them said it all. Whether it was a horse show, swim meet, softball game, football game, track meet, or RC car racing, he was always there cheering on his girls and grandkids. 

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Potetz and a grandson, Noah James.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Natalie Anderson Potetz, Phenix City, AL; four daughters, Karen Schneider (Terry), Indianapolis, IN; Lisa Brown (Todd), Fishers, IN; Linda Mitchem (Shannon), Indianapolis, IN; and Erica Boyer (David), Phenix City, AL; two siblings, Sue Baust and John Potetz both of Pittsburg, PA; eleven grandchildren, Matthew Schneider (Yi), Chandler, AZ; Brian Schneider, Indianapolis, IN; Sarah Webb (Justin), Nashville, TN; Alivia Malone (Derick), Memphis, TN; Shannon Vernon (Joshua), Corpus Christi, TX; Christopher Mitchem, Indianapolis, IN; Gavin Brown, Fishers, IN; Tyler Boyer, Phenix City, AL; Garrett Brown, Fishers, IN; Landon Boyer, Phenix City, AL and Madilyn Boyer, Phenix City, AL; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb Schneider, Leah Schneider, Charlotte Malone, Skylar Webb and soon to arrive, Penelope Malone; and several nieces and nephews.
