Joyce Elaine Schafer

Joyce Elaine Schafer, 63, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014, in her home surrounded by loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm EDT, on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Vance Memorial Chapel. Interment will be private and the family will receive friends before the service and fellowship after the service on Sunday.

Mrs. Schafer was born on October 29, 1950, in Asmara, Ethiopia, the daughter of the late Roy and Madeline Riggleman. We all give thanks for the greatest wife, mama, gma, sister, and friend. God called an angel home but we know she's still with us.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dave Schafer; 3 children, Paula Michelle Sparks, Jamie Leigh Marshall, and Blaise Schafer; 3 grandchildren, Logan Wood, Reese Marshall, and Kaleb Boulware; 3 siblings, Glen Riggleman, wife Lorena, Allen Riggleman, and Jean Banz.
