Mrs. Wood was born December 3, 1939 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late James Homer Parsons, Sr. and Nellie Newsome Parsons. She was a charter member of Golden Acres Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. Mrs. Wood taught every age group from the children to the adults. She was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Always putting her family’s needs before her own. We will remember all the great times we had together with her, however the most precious memories are of her living her Christian faith out on a daily basis.
Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents James and Nellie Parsons; her husband, Curtis Howard Wood and brother, Homer Parsons, Jr.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa Butler (David), Ft. Mitchell, AL and Lorie Butterfield (Tim), Columbus, GA; five grandchildren, Bryan Butler (Shelly), Noah Butler (Becky), Tatum Ranew (Josh), Luke Butterfield (Katie) and Cole Butterfield; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Claire, Scarlett, Merritt, Loreli and Rory; several other family members and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the “Brookdale Senior Living Family” for all of their love and care during their mom’s stay.
