Judith “Judy” Marie Crook Harden of Phenix City, AL went home to heaven at the age of 90 on Friday, May 15, 2020.
Her homegoing celebration will be held at the graveside in Lakeview Memory Gardens, Phenix City, Al on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Skip Speed officiating.
Judy was born April 29, 1930 in Smiths Station, AL daughter of the late Henry Joseph Crook, Sr. and Doris Lamar Horne Crook. She was the 2nd of their 4 children. Judy was a 1947 graduate of Smiths Station High School and was the class valedictorian. After high school, she attended the Truman Smith School of Business in Columbus, GA. She was a secretary for over 60 years. Her career had her working at the Jordan Construction Company, Central High School and Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Judy was a devoted wife. In August 1953 she married Alford “Buddy” Harden, Sr. She was a loving mother of their two children; daughter, Sheila Bryant and husband Jim; son, Alford Harden, Jr. and wife Ellen. Judy adored her four grandchildren, Jimmy Bryant, Cynthia Bryant, Reed Harden and Haviland Harden; two great-grandchildren, Dawson Bryant and Chrysta Lucas; She also had many nieces, nephews and friends who cherished her.
Other than her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy; and her siblings, Elizabeth Howard, Barbara Redden and Joseph Crook.
Judy was very creative and talented. She found great pleasure in singing, sewing, crocheting, cooking and reading. She was a treasured, dedicated and longtime member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths Station, AL. Judy was a lifetime member of the PTA for the Phenix City Public Schools and also a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).
