Mr. Judson Hugh Upshaw

Mr. Judson Hugh Upshaw, 82, of Hurtsboro, AL passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at his home.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am EST (10:00 am CST) Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Hurtsboro United Methodist Church in Hurtsboro, AL.  Interment will follow at Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Springhill, AL.  Due to COVID 19, there will be no formal visitation.

Mr. Upshaw was born June 23, 1938 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Judson Davie Upshaw and Lynne Torbert Upshaw Owens.  While attending Auburn University, he played in the Auburn Band and the concert band.  He was a life long farmer and loved being outside in nature.  Mr. Upshaw was an avid hunter and an excellent marksman.  In addition to hunting, he enjoyed fishing of all kinds. Mr. Upshaw was a long time member of the Hurtsboro United Methodist Church, where he served on most of the committees and sang in the choir the majority of his life.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-father, Charles H. Owens, Sr. and three brothers, Lynne “Buddy” Upshaw, Charles H. Owens, Jr. and Harry P. Owens.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Flora Reynolds Upshaw of Hurtsboro, AL; a daughter, Jacquelyn Upshaw Clark and husband Rex of Hatchechubbee, AL; a son, Jim Upshaw and wife Millie of Troy, AL; a sister, Ann Owens Martin and husband Bill of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Riley Upshaw Gilpin (Thomas) and Judson Davie Upshaw, III; Jamie Upshaw, Brother-in-law, Gregory F. Reynolds (Tracy) several nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and church friends.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Hurtsboro UMC, P. O. Box 215, Hurtsboro, AL 36860.
