Julia Lynn Weaver

January 16, 1958 — December 24, 2024

Columbus

Julia Lynn Weaver, 66, of Columbus, Georgia, departed this world peacefully on December 24, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lynn’s extraordinary life at the visitation on December 30, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Columbus, followed by a funeral service starting at 3:00 PM. The interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery immediately after.

Known for her roles as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Lynn has left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. For many years, Lynn worked as an office manager for Georgia International and then at architectural firm Kersey & Luttrell for over 20 years. Everywhere she worked, she was not just an employee but a steadfast presence who supported and nurtured those around her until her well-earned retirement. She brought her creativity and dedication to everything she did, both in her career and at home.

A natural caretaker, Lynn had a unique gift for fostering connections with those she loved. She guided friends and relatives, gently walking alongside them through difficult times until the very end of their lives. Her personality was an enchanting blend of strength and kindness; though she could appear stoic at times, it was merely the strength that was instilled in her by her mother, a seed that bloomed into a tremendous heart. Lynn was not only the most loving and caring person, but also had a feisty spirit that endeared her to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Lynn’s home was her haven, a place where she took immense pride in cultivating her garden, illustrated vividly by her recent project of building a greenhouse in her yard with the help of her son Shawn and daughter-in-law Caitlin. Together they built an oasis for Lynn to nurture her plants, a special project, and a lasting monument to the bond they shared. Her creative spirit led her to consistently take up new crafts (though not consistently completing them), always eager to explore the bounds of her imagination. While she enjoyed traveling occasionally, her heart rested comfortably at home, where the love of her family thrived.

Among her proudest accomplishments, Lynn was a strong matriarch who cherished her role as "Nana." She devoted her heart to her grandchildren, Preston Welch, Tinsley Welch, Halle Williams and her husband Ty, James Lawson, Jacob Lawson and his wife Savanna, Lorelei Lawson, and Araya Lawson. They were truly her heart, and she found immeasurable joy and pride in the family she lovingly built and raised. The legacy Lynn began with her children and grandchildren will continue as they raise and nurture her great-grandchildren, Sansa and Oliver Williams and Wesley and Jesse Lawson.

Lynn is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, James R. Weaver; her daughter Brandy Welch and her husband Tony of Midland, Georgia; her son Shawn Dee Lawson and his wife Caitlin of Cataula, Georgia; and her stepson Zach Weaver and his wife Cheyenne of Columbus, Georgia. Lynn is also survived by her beloved dog, Joey, who was arguably her favorite child.

In her passing, Lynn is reunited with her parents, Lena Griggers Raborn and Albert Raborn, sisters Lana June Wright and Linda Janice Norvell, and her in-laws June and James Lawson.

Julia Lynn Weaver will forever be remembered for her immense love, her laughter, and the way she embraced life with open arms, leaving behind a legacy of strength and care that will be cherished by all who knew her.
