Julius C. Otero, 84, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM (EST) in the Laurel Cemetery, Alexander City, AL with Rev. Donald Delee officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Mr. Otero was born February 8, 1939 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, son of the late Julio C. Otero and Emilia Rodriguez Otero. He graduated from Auburn University with a BS in Civil Engineering and worked for over 40 years with Infilco-Degremont. Mr. Otero was also a U. S. Army Veteran. He was a member of Central Christian Church where he served and worshiped with family and friends. He also enjoyed remodeling his home and various construction projects. We will miss him in our daily routine, but he will live forever in our hearts.
Mr. Otero was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Emilia Otero; one brother, Marco Antonio Otero and one sister, Cibeles Verona; and his son, Dr. Jay M. Otero.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jeanette Saffold Otero, Phenix City, AL; one son, Darren Otero (Lynn), North Hollywood, CA; two granddaughters, Julianna Otero and Isabella Otero both of North Hollywood, CA; several nieces, nephews and friends.
