Katherine Ann Smith, 58, of Columbus, GA passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Columbus Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Friday, May 14, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. In keeping with efforts to control the spread of COVID-19, social distancing guidelines will be observed and facemasks will be required.
Katherine was born on August 11, 1962 in Columbia, South Carolina to J.V. Smith (Janice) and Geraldine Perry Zula (Tom). With her father being a chef, she was raised in the food and restaurant business – there wasn’t anything in the kitchen Kathy couldn’t do. She worked at the Columbus Trade Center with her father and then moved on to be the Assistant Kitchen Manager at Applebee’s for a number of years. She was Baptist by faith and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Johnny Clark; mother of 46 years, Janice Smith; sisters, Tammy Isom (Johnny Ray Noland) and Sandy Drawdy (Kevin) of Columbus, GA and Vicki Gary (James) of Phenix City, AL; brothers, Danny Smith (Pat) of Waverly Hall, GA and Kenny Smith (Nicole) of Columbus, GA, and Jimmy Smith (Ronda) of Hoschton, GA. She was also an amazing aunt to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, J.V. Smith and mother, Geraldine Perry Zula and “Mama” Agnes Smith.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society.
