Katherine Mcclure

September 25, 1939 — July 12, 2018

Katherine Murphy McClure, 78, of Waco, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018.  She was born Sept. 25. 1939, in Russell County, Alabama, daughter of the late Luther Lambert Murphy and the late Shirley Streetman Murphy.  She attended West Georgia College. She was the first female computer programmer in the United States and worked for NCR and Carrollton Federal.  She loved playing the piano, picking up pine cones and cleaning her yard. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dewitt Andrew McClure, Jr.; and brother, Leroy Murphy.

She is survived by her children, Barbara and Mickey Eason of Carrollton and Bryan and Pam McClure of Carrollton; sisters, Dorothy Salas and Lara Fuller both of Athens, seven grandchildren, Michael Eason, Marty Eason, Melissa Rawson, Leia Pinson, Ryan McClure and Kane McClure; and her beloved dog, Thor.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10:00 am EDT Saturday morning, August 4, 2018 by her loving family at Newsome Cemetery in Phenix City, everyone is welcome to attend and share memories, and visit with family and friends.
