Kathryn Bockman Garrett, 95 of Phenix City, AL passed away early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2013 at Robertsdale Rehab and Healthcare Facility in Robertsdale, AL. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm EST Friday, November 15, 2013 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Garrett was born May 5, 1918 in Girard, AL to Harry Bockman and Fannie Anthony Bockman. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She also had served as a kindergarten teacher, a Sunday school teacher, Red Cross volunteer; was an avid tennis player until the age of 70, a wonderful cook, loved playing all sorts of card games, BINGO, working her roses in her flower garden and was a member of Summerville United Methodist Church in Phenix City and was one of the first families of the Founding Fathers of the church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Jesse “Tommy” Thomas Garrett, one sister, Helen Andrews and four brothers, Jim Bockman, Harry Bockman, Frank Bockman and Sam Bockman. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Garrett Ward and husband Ted of Orange Beach, AL and Rebecca Garrett Deal and husband Jack of The Villages, FL, one son, Tommy Garrett and wife Amie of Montgomery, AL (6) Grandchildren, Jesse Ward (Kimberly), Rebecca Lynn Brown (Michael), Tommy Garrett (Amie), Rud Blumentritt (Mary), Christie Faulkner (David) and James Blumentritt (Mikie), (12) great grandchildren, (1) great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
