Kathryn Land Ganus

Kathryn Land Ganus, 86, of Phenix City, AL passed away Friday, August 14, 2015 at Phenix City Healthcare in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Rob Goodman officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Slade Pirtle, Cyril “Cy” Floyd, Colter Richard, Clifford Moulton, Jay Moulton and David Stecenko.

Mrs. Ganus was born in Fortson, GA on May 9, 1929, daughter of the late Ralph Clayton Land and Martha Shipp Land.  She worked for Wholesale Tire for over 20 years and was a member of Summerville Baptist Church.  Additionally, she was a member of the Phenix City Shrinettes, Daughters of the Nile and the AZO.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Ganus and a brother, Sydney Land.

Mrs. Ganus is survived by two daughters, Kathy Ganus Pirtle and husband Michael of Montgomery, AL and Gayle Ganus Floyd and husband Rusty of Phenix City, AL; two sisters, Etta Land of Phenix City, AL and Nancy Moore and husband Daniel of Fortson, GA;  two brothers, John W. Land and wife Beatrice and Marion Land, both of Fortson, GA; four grandchildren, Slade Pirtle, Taylor Floyd, Rachel Floyd Richard (Colter), Cy Floyd (Michelle); five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Bailey, Layken, Cooper and Colbie.
