Mrs. Terry was born January 04, 1953, in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late Orien Goss and Thelma Sexton Goss. She had retired from Doctors Hospital, now Piedmont Midtown Columbus, as a Sr. Lab Tech. Mrs. Terry was the Valedictorian of her high school class at Central. She was a former member of the Holland Creek Baptist Church, Phenix City, AL and at Cascade Hills Church, Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Terry or “Grandma” as she was known by family and friends, was Grandma to all who came to know her. She loved to bake, and her sugar cookies and snickerdoodles were the best in the whole world! Baking was just one of the many ways she expressed love to those around her. She was a good provider for her family and put them at the top of her priority list. Grandma especially had the grandchildren on the top as they had a standing reservation yearly in Panama City Beach, FL for the annual grandchildren beach trip. She also loved Elvis and the Andy Griffith Show. We often heard her singing with Elvis or whistling the Andy Griffth theme song as she went about her day.
We will always remember that she was a fighter and strong-willed, however she tempered this with lots of love. Thank you for the wonderful memories and beautiful life you lived before us.
Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Orien and Thelma Goss and her husband, Richard Roland Terry.
Survivors include her two children, Rev. Adam Churchwell (Jennifer) and Jamie Churchwell Boyette (Bryan); three step-children, Russell Terry (Jessica), Matthew Terry, and Andrew Terry (Meagan); two older brothers, Terry Goss (Helen) and Kenneth Goss (Diane); six grandchildren, Noah Churchwell (Maria), Nina Stofferahn (Christian), Emma Churchwell, Zachary Johnson, Avery Boyette and Carter Boyette; two step-grandchildren, Dewey and Ashton Terry; three great-grandchildren, Oliver Churchwell, Deacon Stofferahn and little baby Brooklyn who will be here soon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
