Kelly Denise Dixon Koon, 51, of Salem, AL died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, with her family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Concord Baptist Church (321 Lee Rd 251, Salem, AL 36874) with Rev. Bud Passmore and Rev. Jarrod Horne officiating. A private interment will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM (EST) until the funeral hour at the church.
Kelly was born November 16, 1971, in Valdosta, GA, daughter of Sheila Dale Copeland Reed and the late Harlan Dwain Dixon. She was a homemaker and former banker. Kelly loved praise music, intricate jigsaw puzzles, traveling with her family and fishing. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for several years.
Kelly was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Dwain Dixon, mother-in-law, Grace Koon, grandmother, Wanna Dixon and grandparents, Carl and Earlene Copeland.
In addition to her parents, Sheila and Larry Reed and father-in-law Neil Koon, Kelly is survived by her husband of 27 years, Jonathan Koon; three children, Austin, Cole, and Gracyn Koon; sister, Kim Franklin (J.R.); sister-in-law, Mary Jayne Rudd (Jerry); uncle, Scott Copeland, Sr.; aunt, Sheila Shabazz (Malik); and several other beloved family members and friends.
The family offers their heartfelt thanks to all of those who gave tender care to Kelly during her illness. We are comforted by the fact that Kelly was a believer in Jesus Christ, and we know that that she is now safely in Heaven. Her fond memories will always be cherished in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christian ministry or colon cancer charity of your choice.
