Kenneth "Scottie" Irving Wilmarth

SFC (Retired) Kenneth “Scottie” I. Wilmarth, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services with full Military Honors will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Pastor Eric Estes officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.

SFC Wilmarth was born May 1, 1931 in Haverhill, MA, son of the late Irving Raymond Wilmarth and Bernice Andrews Wilmarth.  He retired from the United States Army with 24 years of service, and also retired from OEH at Fort Benning with 22 years of service as an inside plumber.  He worked with McCarley’s Donut Shop in Phenix City and in Columbus as a Baker and Cake Decorator.  He had the honor for decorating the cake for Phenix City’s 100th Birthday.  His hobbies were woodworking, making antique wood clocks, and cabinets and refinishing furniture for friends; he also made flags and banners for the Order of Tartan.  He was a member of NYI of Photography, Caledonian Club of Massachusetts, Canadian Legion of Massachusetts, Kevin Barry Irish Club of Massachusetts, and Order of Tartan Scottish Club of Columbus, GA.  He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Scotland.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 48 ½ years, Betty J. Scarberry Wilmarth, one sister, Patricia Wilmarth, and one brother, Phillip Wilmarth.

He is survived by his loving devoted wife, Terri “MiMi” Marie Wilmarth, step-daughter, Autumn Lynn Tadsen and husband Donald, two sisters, Doreen McNamara and Jean Finnell, one brother, Richard Wilmarth and wife Loretta, step grandson, Ryder Baden Lee Tadsen, brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Angela Carroll, mother-in-law, Annie Louise Carroll, numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own, other extended family, and many caring friends.  In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Columbus Hospice House 7020 Moon Road Columbus, GA 31904.  Online condolences may be made at www.vancememorialchapel.net
